Anne

Anne has been a physical therapist in private practice since graduating from the University of Alberta in 1997. She is invested in continuing education and over the years has done additional training in specialty areas like chronic pain, sports assessment and evaluating the jaw. In addition to treating all traditional physiotherapy problems like sprains/strains, car accidents, post-surgery or post-fracture problems, Anne has several areas of interest in her practice.

Exercise and Self Management
Function and performance are big priorities for Anne, and exercise is part of everyone's treatment. As an avid road and trail runner (and recovering CrossFitter!) she knows the importance of self maintenance. Learning how to help people take care of their own body and develop an exercise habit is her goal. She also offers Healthy Athlete assessments to look at specific movement and strength related to a person's sport or activity to offer guidance and treatment before an injury happens.

Ongoing Pain
Anne has had a lot of success treating chronic pain in areas like the neck, shoulder, back and hip, often using Intramuscular Stimulation (IMS). She has been a certified Gunn IMS practitioner since 2003 and has training in Active Release Techniques and other hands-on treatment methods.

TMD and Headaches
Another area of specialty for her is treating orofacial pain. This includes headaches, face pain and temporomandibular joint (TMJ) pain. She can also work with your dentist to help sort out these issues.

A large part of her treatments are geared towards helping her clients understand, reconnect, and reclaim their bodies, empowering them to self-manage their conditions. Health promotion and prehabilitation (to prevent injury) are vital to her clinical philosophy. When appropriate, she also incorporates manual/hands-on therapy: deep tissue massage, stretching, and joint mobilization.

When Jessica is not helping others achieve their functional goals, she is out putting

her brain and body to the test running and biking Edmonton’s river valley, hiking in the Rockies, weight-lifting, sprinting, and performing the three-legged dog in her self-led yoga practice. She is always looking for the next adventure and finding new ways to move. She is an avid traveler, having been to 21 countries (so far!), and enjoys a cozy coffee shop with a good book (usually a physio-related one that helps her further broaden her knowledge and skills!). Most importantly, she loves spending time with friends and family, especially her seven nieces.

Emily Clark

Physiotherapist

Hi! My name is Emily. I am originally from Victoria, BC where I completed my Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology at the University of Victoria. I then moved to Edmonton to complete my Master of Science in Physical Therapy at the University of Alberta. Being a competitive triathlete in the past along with the knowledge learned from my degree in Kinesiology fueled my deep interest in becoming a physiotherapist. During my first few years of kinesiology, I became fascinated with the study of human movement. My passion for helping others move better paired with my joy in getting to know people from all walks of life has directed me to this very rewarding profession.

My treatment philosophy is founded on providing optimal and quality patient care. I strive to create a positive and uplifting atmosphere to support my patients through their individual and unique journeys. Knowledge is power and I am a firm believer in active and purposeful treatment through education, therapeutic exercise, and manual therapy. Additionally, I have taken up a special interest in vestibular rehabilitation as well as assessment and treatment of running injuries. I have a deep desire to get to the root of why my patients come to see me and am determined to help meet my patients needs that will ultimately lead to the independent management of their individual experience. I am excited to work with anyone who walks through the doors of Pleasantview Physiotherapy and am ready and determined to help you achieve your goals.

Outside the clinic I enjoy hiking and camping in the mountains, running, mountain biking, road cycling, and swimming in lakes. In the winter I love to downhill ski and since moving to Edmonton I have picked up cross country skiing and bouldering. On a more musical note, I occasionally like to sing and play guitar at open mics in Edmonton!
